Week of Monday April 6
to
Sunday April 12th, 2026

All things considered, not a remarkable week. I finished reading “Raising Hare.” What a fantastic piece of work. I loved it. It is so well written and the author personally gained such an appreciation for nature while writing the book. More importantly, the author passed on that excitement and joy to the reader. The research that went into the memoir was remarkable.

I gave Claude a paragraph of my writing and he tore it apart. (I apologize for my anthropomorphism.) I thought I was a decent writer - I guess maybe not so much. Claude showed me I have a long way to go before I have a firm grasp on grammar and just plain sentence structure.

I’m drinking Breathe Easy tea as I write this. Does it help? I hope so. My back hurts, for sure the tea is doing nothing for that. I hope that is because I have been asking my back to do more these last few weeks. That said, I really need to be conscious of my posture and work on that to give my poor back some relief.

(Look, I’m using paragraphs.)

I took an IPTPA training class for 3.0 certification this past week. I have the 3.0 skills down and will pass no problem. I could probably pass the 3.5 skills test but I don’t want to. I’d rather hone my skills first at the 3.0 level before playing up. At the club where we play there are too many 3.5 players. It actually brings the skill level down. That’s good for me, when I’m ready to play up I should be able to kick some butt. Isn’t it interesting that so many people have an inflated opinion of their skill, I find that almost comical. I’ve watched the 3.5’ers at our club and most of them have sub-par foot work and athletic ability. Ratings in Pickleball are kind-of a joke. If the 3.5s in our club played in a real tournament, they would get smoked.

I haven’t gotten on the bike enough this week. If I don’t get my shit together soon, June is going to be very difficult.
