Week of Monday March 30th to Sunday April 5th, 2026
This last week saw snow coming in to Mt. Bachelor after a too-long hiatus. Wednesday night the storm came in. We skied Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. It was lovely – Thursday in particular. We played pickleball on Sunday and had a lot of fun.
I’ve started weekly acupuncture, this was week three of treatment. It’s helping, in particular my back. This last week I completed my first week of strength training. It was tough. I think I’m going to get really good results from the program. It will help not just in cycling but in all activities. Strength is so important, especially when aging sets in. You can only rely on genetics for so long.
Andy Ross passed away on Tuesday. We were deeply saddened. Andy is a great guy and we respected him, not just who he was but his skiing ability as well. We felt blessed to have had the opportunity to know him and ski with him. The day after his passing a storm blew in to his home mountain, Mammoth, and also to Mt. Bachelor, our home mountain. There is no way of knowing if his passing and the fortunate storms are connected. The human mind is wired to look for connections, so at first glance, these would seem to be related. However, whether they are related or not, we had three marvelous days of skiing and we thought of Andy all three days on the hill. I’m finally learning how to pull off a real carved turn, edging throughout the entire arch of the turn and through the weight transfer into the next turn. I dedicated the progress I made this week to Andy.
