Thought For The Day

• Success is not what you own or how rich you are. Success is who you are. 

When I got in the elevator here at the motel, a little girl in a princess outfit, complete with crown and magic wand, said hello to me and granted me 40 hours of good luck. I thanked her and said her timing was excellent because tomorrow I plan to ride my bike to the top of the Kancamagus Scenic Byway. I’m pretty sure she didn’t know what I was talking about, but her parents did. They both said that was amazing and they wished me safe travel. The princess’s timing is excellent. I’m pretty sure I’m going to need all the luck I can get… and a little work…

While I was wandering around town, I met a couple thru-hiking the AT. That’s 2,200 miles of hiking only trail, the longest in the world. I joking said they wouldn’t need to do the PCT after completing the AT. They said they were planning on doing that next year! I gave them my contact info and said I would pick them up for resupply when they get to Central Oregon. They were impressed by my tour which left me mildly surprised. I admire what thy are doing tremendously.

I went into an Ace Hardware and found the exact charging cable I’ve been looking for. It will now be easier to keep the phone charged off the dynamo hub and use less backup battery. Just in time to finish my tour. What can I say, “Ace is the Place.”

I’m leaving early in the morning so right before closing I picked up a sandwich for lunch on the road tomorrow.
