Thought For The Day

  • Happiness is temporary, joy is permanent. Build on those things that will bring you joy.

It’s hard for me to believe that after last night’s storm I had a day of riding that was free of rain and mostly sunny. I’ll take that.

I’m now in New York. This is something of a milestone for me. I have enjoyed some fairly flat terrain for the last 600 miles. Today I noticed a difference. The terrain is becoming slightly more rolling. I think this is a sign of what’s ahead. I was surprised to discover I’m now in wine country. Everywhere is vineyards and signs for wine tours. Driving back, a wine tour might be in order.

That’s it for tonight. Tomorrow I’ll be in Buffalo. I plan to take a day of rest there and spend some time enjoying the city. With my free time I plan to build a detailed itinerary of the remaining portion of my tour from Buffalo, New York to Bar Harbor, Maine. On the way back from Maine, I’m planning a stop-over in Buffalo for a bicycle tour of the city and a side trip to Niagara Falls.

Usually in these photos, the bike wants to be photographed alone. Today the bike was kind enough to let me be included.

This is the type of sight you never see from the window of a car.
