In last night’s game it looked like the Guardians would pull off a win with an early lead. The Padres prevailed in later innings with key home runs and patience at the plate. There’s a big difference between looking down on a baseball game and looking out at a baseball game. Last night I found myself looking down on the game. It didn’t occur to me that eyeglasses to help with distance vision would have been an asset in that situation… Nevertheless, I enjoyed the experience. I’ve never seen Cleveland take on the Mariners in Seattle, now I have that to look forward to.

I leave Cleveland under mostly sunny and rain-free skies. I’ll be leaving downtown and winding my way to the waterfront where I’ll pick up U.S. Bike Route 30 and head east along the lakeshore. I think today’s ride should be a pleasant one. I’ve picked a point about 40 miles east of Cleveland in the town of Painesville as my destination for the day. I think tomorrow is going to be a different story, but there’s no point in going into that right now when I have what should be a pleasant ride just in front of me.

On my way to the waterfront, I passed by the Cleveland Browns Stadium and the Rock ’n’ Roll Hall of Fame. Contrary to signage, I did not see Elvis in (or outside) the house. I also passed the USS Cod on the way out of town. She is a WW II submarine on display. I would have loved to stick around for a tour but once on the road it’s difficult to change plans. It looks like she sank 21 enemy vessels during World War II.

There is still significant rain (0.5”) in the forecast for tomorrow. I’m planning on an 80 mile day tomorrow. That could mean I arrive wet. I’ll make the best of it.
