Thought For The Day

  • Work on your character every day. Character is like muscle, it gets soft if it is not exercised.

The plan for today is to take the “North Coast, Inland Trail” from Fremont to Bellevue and then turn north and finish today riding into Huron.

That’s exactly how it went. Light rain fell for about the first 10 miles, then I had to take the raincoat off.

I decided to get a room for the night again Just as I was pulling up to the front door, it started to rain. I have been very fortunate when it comes to getting wet, that is to say, I really haven’t gotten wet. The evenings here are another matter entirely. Lightning, thunder and rain, lots of it. The middle of the day is not too bad. I stopped along the way and chatted with a man who was working in his front yard. The entire front yard was flooded. I asked him if the water had been accumulating over the last few days. He said it was all from last night. They received 3-1/2 inches of rain overnight. This was about 15 miles South of Huron.

Tomorrow it’s on to Cleveland.

I’m calling this “Eastbound Train.” Inspiration for the name came from the first Dire Straits recording made at the Hope & Anchor Public House in London, 1978, titled “Woman on an Eastbound Train.”

The paint is a bit faded. It’s been there for awhile.
